Privacy Policy

Last updated October 6, 2026

This page describes what Edge Music (the web player at music.edgeventure.uk and the companion iOS app) collects, why, and how you can see, change or delete it. It applies wherever Edge Music is offered.

The rules for using Edge Music, including the community rules for Spaces and messages, are in our Terms of Use.

What we collect

An account needs an email address and a password. We store the password only as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot read it, and neither can anyone who gets a copy of the database. We also record when your account was created and when you last signed in, for security and abuse prevention.

Beyond that, we store what you choose to create or add: playlists, posts and reactions, messages you send in Spaces or directly to another listener, Spaces you own or join, party sessions, and — if you use Creator Studio — the tracks, albums and artist-page information you submit. When you're signed in, we also keep your listening settings and history so they follow you between the website and the app: the songs you played recently, liked or asked to hear less of, how long you've listened, the genres, moods and artists you lean towards, and your language and theme choices. If you link a device to your account, we record that link and the permissions you granted it, so you can review and revoke it at any time from Linked devices.

What the app does not collect

The iOS app plays audio and talks to our servers over HTTPS. It does not request — and cannot access — your microphone, camera, photo library, contacts or location. It uses no third-party analytics or advertising software, and no cross-app or cross-website tracking identifier. There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is collected for that purpose in the first place.

Voice chat, where offered, runs through the web player, not the iOS app, and only when a Space you are in has it enabled.

Who else is involved

Edge Music runs on our own server. Cloudflare carries and processes the encrypted traffic between your device and that server as our network provider, so it handles what you send us in transit, on our behalf only. Songs in Discover come from the independent music network Audius through our server; their cover art loads straight from Audius's servers, which see your IP address as any website you load an image from would. Fonts load from Google Fonts in the same way. We don't share your information with any of them for their own use, and none of them is used for advertising or tracking.

How we use it

To run the service: to authenticate you, play the music and content you request, deliver messages you send, show your playlists and Spaces back to you, and keep the platform working and abuse-free. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Deleting your account

You can request deletion at any time from Your account, whether you signed up on the web or through the iOS app. Deleting your account is a real deletion, not a deactivation: before you confirm, that page shows you exactly which categories of your data will be removed, based on what you have actually used —

CategoryWhat's included
AccountYour profile and sign-in
PlaylistsPlaylists you published
FollowsPeople and artists you follow, and your followers

PartiesListening and watch parties

A message you sent to someone else is removed from your account; whether it still shows to the person you sent it to follows the same rule ordinary messaging apps use — we don't reach into another person's account to delete their copy of a conversation. Reports you filed and evidence tied to an active safety investigation are handled separately, and you're told before you confirm if any apply to you.

Deletion from our live systems is automatic once you confirm it. Routine backups that already exist at the moment of deletion are retained only briefly afterward, strictly to protect against data loss from an error, and are then erased in turn; a few accounts (for example an artist page with releases) need a person on our side to finish, and the page tells you before you confirm.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you don't delete your account yourself, we keep what the service needs to keep working — there is no separate automatic-expiry timer on an active account today.

Children's privacy

Edge Music is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us using the details below and we will remove it.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
